"There has to be Lechon": Celebration in the Filipino Community
Description
"'There has to be Lechon': A Celebration in the Filipino Community" is a short ethnographic film focusing on a Filipino community that gathered occasionally to attend services and social events in Talisheek, Louisiana, the home of Pastor Lito who moved to the area to reopen a once-abandoned church. The video focuses on a one-day community event, a child dedication (Baptism) and baby shower, that signaled the opening of the Filipino Mission in Talisheek.
The film was shot in April 2011 by Randy Gonzales as part of his field research on the Light by the Lake Filipino Mission.
